1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I grow my own food as much as possible and vermicompost indoors (composting with red wiggler worms). Additionally, I'd say I fall on the "very conscious" end of the spectrum when it comes to what products and food I buy. Plus, I think it’s so important to be involved in your community—both the local level and greater community level, so I’ve recently joined a community garden, was active in helping catalyze curbside composting in my area, and am actively involved in a number of environmentally-oriented non-profits.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I’ve always loved what Study NY does. Zero waste, as much as possible, and the recent collabs with Weaving Hand and Anthropologie are killer. I have literally worn my IOU Project madras from Kavita Parmar nearly threadbare. And I’m a sucker for vintage. Highly recommend @amarcordvintage in Brooklyn, my local haunt, if you’re feeling the itch for pre-loved clothes.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I’m working on rebuilding my skin biome, so haven’t used too many products, other than organic coconut oil and Mother Dirt, the latter of which was specifically designed to keep beauty simple and nurture the good bacteria on the skin. There’s been so much incredible research on the importance of fostering good bacteria in our guts through nutrition, but most people don’t realize that we have a biome on our skin as well that we should support.
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
My boho skirt that I got at a local shop, a vintage crop top and my handwoven bracelet from the Amazon Rainforest.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I’ve just written a book called @sugardetoxme and launched a website at sugardetox.me to help people cleanse themselves from sugar and processed foods; I also write a blog and do a Youtubechannel called Homestead Brooklyn to help reconnect people with nature through the simple things—like a potted plant or a walk in the Botanical Gardens. And lately, I’ve been volunteering my time to Gaia Amazons.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I think I’ll keep up with what I’m doing: following my passion, spending more time in nature, creating business ventures that leave the world a better place, and definitely growing more in my garden!

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I recycle as much as possible and I try not to buy too many new clothes. I actually still own clothes from 10 years ago that I wear! I also buy sustainably made clothes and do my best to take care of what I own
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I love Maiyet and Reformation! But, I do find some of their pieces to be a little overpriced. I LOVE Veja vegan shoes. I also like a number of designers I’ve worked with like Kordal, Liam of York and Boerum Apparel. (I try to do at least 5 sustainable fashion shoots a year for free or for donation to a charity.)
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I like Acure and Weleda skincare. The ingredients are pure and the products aren’t too thick. Also affordable. I actually LOVE Dominyka’s organic skin oil [Amberlight Beauty]. I’ve been using it for a while and I think it’s my favourite oil :)
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Now that the weather is warmer, comfy Veja sneakers, black skinny jeans, comfy t, denim jacket, light scarf with a pop of colour, Finlay & Co sunglasses, with my Bartaile bag.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I love developing the Beyond the Runway network for models. I believe that if you want to succeed in a new idea and project, tapping into your network for support and connections is very powerful. Models are well connected and so we can build an awesome network to push each other forward. We can learn from those who have already done something we want to do and we can find new friends to share the journey with. We also develop a stronger sense of who we are outside of being models and feel empowered as see our new projects come into reality. Modeling can be restrictive-you can feel isolated and out of control, it can be hard to connect with other models in such a competitive environment, and you often think that what you’re passionate about outside of modeling is unattainable. There is also the reality that modeling doesn’t last forever and it’s important to be able to rely on your other talents and develop your abilities so that when you feel like it’s time to try something else, you won’t be stuck. Beyond the Runway aims to address these issues.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I'd like to be creating social impact campaigns and continuing to create valuable connections and community within groups of people. I really love bringing people together, so maybe more events based work similar to the Beyond the Runway programming where people can learn a lot and have a memorable experience.

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
To stay environmentally friendly, I like to walk to places as much as I can! Even is the place is a bit of a hike, I don’t mind because I love being outdoors. I am an extremely fast walker (as my friends say) haha! So I can get to places pretty fast ;). I also yell at my boyfriend all the time for littering. It is my number one pet peeve when I see people throw garbage outside their car window. THROW IT AWAY PEOPLE! -Amen! In Japan, where I grew up, there are hardly any garbage cans anywhere yet it is one of the cleanest countries I've been to. People hold on to all their trash until they get home to throw away.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
Reformation is one of my favorite brands ever. They have the best basics! Their clothes are all super great material and eco-friendly, which is awesome!
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I am obsessed with oils. Coconut oil, rosehip oil & tea tree oil are my three staples. I have combination skin and a lot of people with combination or oily skin are afraid to use oils. You should not be afraid of them! These natural oils are amazing for any skin type! I use coconut oil from head to toe, I do coconut oil hair masks and use it as a moisturizer. I get really dry skin during the winter time and coconut oil gives my skin its glow back! Rose hip oil is AMAZING for anyone who has dark marks or any problems with their skin. I recenty started using this oil on my face morning and night and I can tell a major difference, It gives such a glow and creates evenness in the skin. Tea tree oil I pop on any breakouts I have and instantly they're gone! It’s like magic! -I couldn't agree more. I just started using rosehip oil and notice an amazing difference as well!:)
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Oooooh well that depends on the weather, but for fall/winter a sweater, leather jacket, ripped jeans, booties and my YSL black cross body bag. For summer, a little floral dress with sandals.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I have a blog! kateridion.com. I write about healthy recipes, fitness, fashion & beauty! I am super passionate about working out and eating healthy. I hit the gym 6 days a week doing something different almost every time. I love to run, pilates, TRX ropes and hot yoga! Things that make me sweat but keep me long and lean! I am actually studying nutrition through Purdue University as well! I love learning about the benfits of different foods and superfoods. I can seriously read articles and books about nutrtion for HOURS. I love to bake raw vegan desserts (check out some recipes on my blog ;)). Putting together new recipes and finding new foods to make my body feel great inside and out excite me!
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
100% a certified nutritionist. I’ve always had a passion with health and fitness. I would love to make meal plans and help educate people on the importance of what food they are putting in their bodies. It’s all about the ingredients! Real ingredients! You may see me writing a book about health or opening my own little café selling health foods, treats, & smoothie bowls (I’m seriously a master at the smoothie bowl).

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I try to recycle a lot, try to use as much paper or my own bags instead of plastic bags, in general not use that many products which are wrapped in plastic and not to waste too much water.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I love Reformation and Amour Vert, they have really nice and sustainable stuff.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
My absolutely favorite brand which I use already for years for my skin is Weleda. And I love SANTE as well. They both are brands from Germany. -My skin can't get enough of Weleda's Skin Food. Such an incredibly hydrating cream, especially in the winter!
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
A very comfortable boyfriend jeans from Mango which I have already for years with a blue cashmere sweater from &otherStories with my white Adidas sneakers and of course not without my black Saint Laurent bag;)
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I'm really into books! So when I'm traveling or whenever I have some free time I love reading any interesting, exciting books. It keeps my mind away for a bit and helps me relaxing too.
I'm also studying literature and culture studies besides modeling which helps me as well to fill in my free time and to keep focus on something else besides the job. -I truly admire those of you who can balance school with modeling. Keep it up girl!
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I think in the future in around 5 years I'm gonna write my own book. I don't know yet at all what it is going to be like but that's my plan;)

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly
In addition recycling, taking public transport, and turning off lights, I think it’s important to speak out about the issues you care about.
Recently, a Congressman put forward a bill that would sell off millions of acres of public land. It failed because conservatives and liberals both pushed back, but it was just one threat to our national parks, water, and wildlife. I’m involved with the NPCA, but there are tons of other ways to advocate—on this and many other environmental issues.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I’m still learning to be a much more conscious consumer. One way to start is to find the sustainable sub-brands within companies you already like. For me, that’s ASOS Eco and H&M Conscious. But at the end of the day, the easiest way to live more sustainably is to buy fewer things you don’t need. -The big corporations like H&M are taking huge steps towards sustainability and I'm a fan! And you're right, to live more sustainably you don't have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe of ethically made clothes. Reuse what you already have, buy less and if you do need to buy, buy better.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
A friend of mine recently recommended Honest Beauty and Credo, both of which I love.
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Easy: a soft sweater, flare jeans (100% serious, they’re great), sneakers and a statement jacket.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
Modeling has been an incredible opportunity to learn (through fashion) about how we share information and communicate. Beyond modeling, I spend nearly all my time in two ways:
I have a full-time job at Vox Media. I'm the manager of what we call “brand strategy” for Vox (Vox Media includes eight different brands; Vox is the brand that helps you understand the news.) At work, I spend a lot of time thinking about a couple questions: How do media companies, specifically political news companies, make money? How will they in the future? How does that apply to Vox? The bigger, really fascinating question is: What are the effects of different business models—on the company, on the media as a whole, and on society?
I also write and run my own political news project, The Short Version. Every Sunday, The Short Version breaks down the most controversial subject of debate and explains what's happening, how it affects you, and the best arguments on each side. You should subscribe and let me know what you think! And keep an eye out for something new on the site soon. -I'm such a big fan Cleo! You often don't read about or discuss the other side so it's nice to see how you break down both arguments.
Finding time for everything I want to do is pretty constant juggling act. But that’s true for everyone. I love every second of it.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
This is such a hard question! Mostly because there are so many things I want to do. I’m excited to work my absolute hardest at Vox and see where that takes me. I’m working on a new project for The Short Version that I’m thrilled about, and may mean I can continue to build TSV for a long time. Modeling has helped to make me quite comfortable on camera, and I’m exploring how that relates to politics and news.
In five years, you’ll find me somewhere at the meeting point of news media, politics, and technology. I’ll still be working on the question, “how can and should we communicate information that matters to the people who need it?”

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
Funny enough, I recently filled out form from ConEd to have my gas/electric come from renewable energy vs fossil fuels. ESCO. Very excited this should kick in this month, wooo!! I am a religious recycle-er (sooo much can be recycled - 80% of my garbage is recyclable), I donate clothing to Salvation Army on the regular - I do not throw away clothes/shoes. I turn lights off - all about the small things. I do not buy plastic bags or napkins...we acquire so much of those things on a daily basis from restaurants, cafes, stores that we are well supplied, saves money too. I pack my garbage from all the plastic bags we receive - I do not buy garbage bags. I bring my own thermos to coffee shops to fill - when I can. I rarely buy water bottles, I always have a portable bottle with me. And I NEVER litter, I know that is pathetic to stress but living in NY it seems like many carelessly toss their garbage on the sidewalks. I have begun shopping more regularly in 2nd hand clothing shops or fleas to avoid buying new clothing, so much resources go into producing garments. Oh and all my cleaning products/soaps/detergents I focus on organic, biodegradable products - no more Windex or Clorox. Lastly, I do not throw food away! There was a great article I believe in the Times about the amount of garbage is thrown away food and how bad it is for the environment. -SO many great suggestions. Even something as simple as not buying plastic bags or napkins can make such a huge impact.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
YES - Christopher Raeburn, check him out, really doing wonderful things, London based. Victorinox Swiss Army is introducing ethical garments into core line. I love the boutique Timbuktu and have this bottle cap bag that I adore and bought from there. I try to buy things from around the world from poor artisans, supporting and giving them hope is important.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
Dr. Alkaitis & RMS - swear by them both!! Love Dr. Alkaitis - Treatment Oil, Eye Cream, Universal Mask, Daily Facial Cleanser. RMS - Beauty Oil & Living Luminizer. I love Jiva Apoha oils - 1967 is my favorite. Pratima Skincare products are fantastic. And Live Live - organic Bee Yummy honey mask, I mix a little organic baking soda to create more of an exfoliating mask - leaves your skin incredibly smooth. -Thank you so much for introducing me to Dr. Alkaitis. Totally changed my complexion for the better!
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
My usual go to hang coffee spot is the Bean on 2nd Ave & 3rd St, I'm usually very casual - Paige denim, Victorinox woven button down, All Saints Men's tee, Paterson sweatshirt, Converse and a Christopher Raeburn tote.
5) Tell me what you're up to after modeling. Any interesting projects? Volunteering? A hobby?
I am currently the Director of Buying, Planning & Allocation at Victorinox Swiss Army (yes the knife maker), all the product in stores, I am responsiblefor the product life cycle from warehouse to shop to customer's hands - I work for our own stores and have become more involved in the website. Outside of work, I am currently training for the Tokyo Marathon - Feb 2017- Congrats Mira on such an amazing accomplishment!
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
In 5 years, I would like to perhaps have launched my own project/business need to have that bright idea or I am working hard to be running a small, existing consumer goods company - I love start up environments. I'll leave you with this, there is a big, crazy, hard but beautiful world out there and there is so much to look forward to after modeling.

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
We each have a responsibility to decrease our ecological footprint. By living in New York, I try to do this in a number of little ways: not letting water taps run (when washing dishes or brushing teeth), separating recyclables, not littering, reusing water bottles, shopping vintage or recycled materials, and giving away old goods. (Amazing suggestions Grace! We have the tools to do great things and it can be as easy as separating your garbage.)
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I enjoy vintage shopping because it’s a fun way to surprise your personal style while supporting sustainability. HM’s conscious collection and Reformation are also great ethical lines I like to shop.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
Currently, I am obsessed with Algenist! Their Splash and Power moisturizers are both rejuvenating and made from sustainable and renewable products.
When I travel, I like to carry rose oil/water, vitamin E oil, and lavender oil all for each of their nourishing skin care properties.
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
It really depends on the day as I’m a firm feel-to-dress kind of girl. I wake up and put on what feels good to me. It could be high waisted or boyfriend denim and a top, or tights and a long sweater/shirt.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I am currently developing a nonprofit in clean energy called Project Tsehigh (pronounced seh-high). As a model, I have been fortunate and given the opportunity to travel the world. In doing so, I picked up on the energy poverty and inaccessibility in many different countries. The most moving was when I was visiting Eritrea, the country from which my parents emigrated to Canada. When there, I would be sitting in cafes or at family homes and POOF! The electricity cut and darkness sunk in, save for a few candles or, if one could afford it, a fuel generator would jump on to restore energy. These generators pollute the air with harmful gas emissions. With air pollution and energy inconsistency, I saw this situation as an opportunity to help improve the quality of life for these people and, in the future, several more communities around the world also living with limited access to sustainable energy.
Project Tsehigh was created to provide clean energy solutions for underserved or rural communities around the world. We are starting by donating solar panels, batteries, and light bulbs to households in East Africa. I love using my platform for positive change, and I know how much of an impact we can all make by helping others conquer energy poverty. As an organization, we are in the fundraising and raising awareness stage and would love to hear from folks interested in supporting at projecttsehigh@gmail.com . (With your purchase of an ODM/ODC reusable water bottle, $5 will go to Project Tsehigh to help support their mission.)
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I truly hope that in five years from now, Project Tsehigh is still up and running and has impacted at least one community each year active. I’ve always found happiness in empowering others-- sometimes I feel like a giant cheerleader ;) -- and I hope that in the future I can do more than cheer and really strengthen the ways in which I help others.
Grace recently chatted with Channel One news about her work with Project Tsehigh. You can learn more about how to get involved here and watch her interview here. Congrats on all your hard work Grace. It's a beautiful thing you're doing for your country and a truly inspiring thing for us model's to look up to!)

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I mostly buy used furniture and refurbish it to the style that I want. It's environmentally friendly, much cheaper, and a fun hobby of mine! I also try to sell off or give away any old furniture/books/clothes/shoes/technology so it doesn’t end up in the landfills. Reuse and recycle! Also I am pretty lucky to live in a building that has a great recycling and compost program to further help reroute things from the landfill. I also take a reusable coffee mug to grab my fav cup of joe, and can't forget my glass or metal water bottles!
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I am in love with Stella McCartney and her cruelty free moto when it comes to clothing. I also try to be cautious and look where a garment was made as countries like Canada and US have stricter laws when it comes to textile pollution compared to China. Buying local clothing also cuts down on the CO2 emissions needed to bring the clothes from factory to store. Better yet, a few times a year I will have a clothing/shoe swap with my model friends for a free update on your wardrobe! (Such a great idea! I've been dying to host one myself.)
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I am a huge fan of Josie Maran skincare and makeup products and Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask, which is just clay and you just add apple cider vinegar to it. (Hands down my fav. go-to mask!) In general, my rule of thumb is, the less ingredients the better!
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Typically ripped jeans and a rocker T-shirt or a shift dress, leather jacket and ankle booties.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I am in love with education! Currently I am in my undergrad for Hydrogeology with a keen interest as well in Atmospheric Sciences. When school is out, I cant sit still, and keep myself busy with house DIY projects or crafts. As I'm on maternity leave now, I’ve been entertaining myself with learning to code in Python. During the winters, I spend most weekends on the slopes, learning new tricks on my snowboard!
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
5 years from now I hope to be in a job that makes sure our water reservoirs are safe from fracking and tailings, and from other industrial waste. If I won’t be dealing with groundwater, or water reservoirs, I most likely will be at an atmospheric/weather related job making sense of all the satellite imagery that comes in and showcasing how our world is changing due to climate change and human input.

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
To be environmentally friendly I try to avoid eating red meat because it is one of the worst things for the planet in terms of food productions, green house gases and carbon footprint. Choosing to eat other sources of protein instead of red meat reduces my ecological footprint. This makes a small impact on the planet but it is something that I’ve chosen to change in my life in order to do my part!
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I have to admit that the majority of my current closet is not filled with sustainable or ethical clothing. however the more I learn about it (Thanks Britt & ODM/ODC), the more I plan on being a conscious clothes shopper. I love Reformation, Stella McCartney and Urban Renewal at Urban Outfitters, all of which I will check out first when I’m out shopping in the future.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
My favourite organic products are from Sage, Burts Bees, and Bite Beauty. I try to look for products with minimal ingredients and ones that are made locally. I also love making home made scrubs from coconut oil and granular sugar (the only time I use granular sugar haha). The scrub is simple, inexpensive and a great solution to dry skin during the cold weather. Definitely trying this, thanks for the tip Zoe!
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
On a day off you’ll find me in my ripped denim jeans that I’ve had forever and are probably a little too ripped at this point but I just can’t give them up. I’ll be in my big hoody and some comfy sneakers. Definitely the word “comfy” would describe how I dress on my days off.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
Over the past couple years I have been using my Instagram platform @Zoes_table (formerly known as @models_eat) to share my passion for healthy eating. @Zoes_table shares my favourite spots to eat in each city, healthy and simple recipes and all things wellness! I am also studying to be a health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Believe me when I say you MUST follow @Zoes_table.... Beautifully curated shots that can get anyone excited about healthy eating.
Recently my friend Dani Seitz and I have brought together girls to come out and play basketball on our “Lady Ballerzz” team. We wanted to bring back that feeling of being on a team sport. Lady Ballerzz is open to any females, no skill set required who want to meet other motivated, inspiring and loving woman through the game of basketball! We have also teamed up with The City Basketball, to motivate and sponsor the inner city youth to reach their potential through basketball.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
5 years from now… I will be sharing knowledge and bringing people together to make the world a better place. I know that sounds cheesy but that is really what I think I’ll be doing. Dream big, right? Just looking back at my life 5 years ago it is crazy to reflect on the journey that has brought me to where I am today so who knows what will come in the next 5 years!

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
When I leave the house, I always turn off all the lights and keep an eye on not wasting water or any other resources. Plus, I eat organic and if I do my grocery shopping I take my backpack so I don't have to use plastic bags. But I do feel bad for flying so much for my job.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
There is this amazing shoe brand from my hometown called "Ethletic".
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I've been using organic beauty products since I started wearing make up. My favorite brand is Weleda. I love their Iris Hydrating Facial Lotion, I use it every day. Yesterday I bought the Weleda pomegranate hand cream, it's great for flying and cold winters. Weleda reminds me of my childhood (since it's a German brand). Weleda has saved my skin this past winter... I can't get enough of their products, especially Skin Food!
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
I take it easy on my days off. I'd wear jeans, a blouse, sneakers and my favorite mini-bag.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
For the last 5 years I've been working as a model and I've been a student at high school at the same time. I graduated this summer, so right now, I enjoy working as a model full time without any jobs on the side. It's nice to finally have some time off. But let's see what happens in the future. In my free time I enjoy meeting with friends, dancing ballet, reading and exploring NYC.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
5 years is a long time.. :)

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I try to use eco friendly products when I can whether it's on my body or cleaning the house. I've also like having bags with me to do my shopping becuase I always feel so awful throwing away plastic bags!! Oh and composting... but I'm really bad at keeping it up to be honest, baby steps right! I also don't order in food because the packaging it takes to deliver a plate of food is awful!
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I am just discovering them to be honest. I've been trying to shop vintage lately but now that I am becoming more aware of new sustainable companies I am VERY happy to support them!
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I love RMS Beauty living luminizer, Josie Maran Argan Oil, Egyptian Magic, Geo oil, Prtty Peaushun and anything Tata Harper.
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Probably something simple like a white t-shirt tucked into high waisted jeans with a leather jacket and sneakers.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I love basketball so I've been organizing groups of ladies to play together. We used to just play games but now I want to start coaching girls on basic fundamentals. Growing up my mom was a coach so she taught me a lot which I'm hoping to use towards my coaching. I'm also a health coach and studying to get my NASM so I can be more involved in the health and wellness world. Check out her latest venture, @Lady_ballerzz for some good old fashioned basketball pick ups and drills.
6) In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I love bringing groups of people together to do fun things so I'm hoping it will involve fitness and bringing together communities of people! Dani is the best at organizing group hangs! From first-hand experience I always have the best time, feel awesome after as they frequently involve some sort of workout and leave in the BEST moods. Plus her hangs involve not just going out for drinks or brunch... a rarity living in NYC! Much appreciated Dani!

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I'm a strong advocate of recycling. My dad actually made sure that we would participate a couple years back and ever since I moved to New York I make sure I keep it up. I also just moved to Bed Stuy, Brooklyn and we have an amazing neighborhood garden with all locally grown vegetables and fruits. So that is something I look forward to visiting every week!
2) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
Raw Jamaican Castor Oil and Coconut Oil
3) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Oversized tee, black pants, trainers, and a scarf or just a comfortable jumpsuit.

Further studying medicine and hopefully traveling the world!

1) What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
I live in LA so driving is a necessity. BUT, I prefer to walk or skateboard so if wherever I'm going isn't too far that's how I get around. I don't use trash bags either;) I just use my recycled shopping bags as my trash bags instead and take the trash out daily.
2) Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
Reformation and Christy Dawn! So cute and they’re both eco-friendly.
3) What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
Rms. They have great light products! I love the concealer and the blush tones that you can also use as a lip gloss. When I see a make up artist has that in their kit, I trust them! Don't forget coconut oil. It's a good moisturizer as well as make up remover or hair conditioner.
4) On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Blue jeans, a little white tee, and for ultimate comfort, my Birkenstocks.
5) Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I live to travel! I recently started taking up film photography so have been inspired to capture all the different cultures, people, and landscapes. The last place I fell in love with was Morocco.

I am very into holistic health and think it's important to spread the word how natural remedies can heal your body. (Amen! We couldn't agree more Annie!) I would love to use my voice and encourage others to look towards holistic ways as well. I also love fashion! I am a total tomboy and eventually would absolutely love to design my own line catering to the stylish, beach, comfy tomboy.

What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
A few things I do to stay environmentally friendly is change all my light bulbs to LEDs, recycle, take transit, try to buy as much organic produce as possible, and use environmentally friend cleaning products.
Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I love Reformation, but they’re a little bit out of my price range. Usually I’ll shop at Buffalo Exchange, which has great second hand clothing, plus a cool curated accessories area too.
What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
I recently discovered the Andalou skincare line, which I love. Not only does my skin feel amazing after but they also champion ‘Cruelty Free, Eco-Friendly, Vegetarian and Vegan, Fair-Trade, Gluten-Free, Natural, Organic, and Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients’. I’m a big longtime fan of Desert Essence; their tea tree oil deodorant is the best. Lastly, Pacifica’s Persian Rose is the best smelling thing on Earth, and I’ve also started using their vegan eye shadow, which I also love! (We can't get enough of Pacifica's rose scent, thanks for the recommendation Vita!)
On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Depending on the season, I either have on my long black dress from Aritiza, or a comfy sweater and Yoga Jeans. White leather sneakers paired with both.

Currently, I’m looking for some art classes to take in the winter. I recently finished school with an advertising and graphic design degree, and I want to find something that will help me improve my drawing skills, as well as my design eye.
In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
You’ll have to wait and find out! (Code for I have no idea! ;) )

What are a few things you do to stay environmentally friendly?
Since I moved to New York City by myself, I started to try my best to recycle as much as I could. I am coming from Spain, and the truth is we always tried at home, but I feel we never were as serious as I try to be here. I see so much waste in the city, it is incredible. Also have you ever thought about the huge amount of garbage we accumulate as a population? I realized how important it is to do as much as we can as individuals. This is the only way we can see a little change; by doing what we can individually and really doing it. I also try not to waste water, for example my dishwasher is not on unless it is full and my shower does not take forever, I am usually very quick. I don’t even have a TV as I travel often, plus nowadays it is not even necessary for somebody living alone. A good smartphone and a good computer with Netflix and internet connection works for me. I also find it very interesting what this website features about sustainable clothing. I think it is something we should learn more about, starting with myself.
Do you have any favorite sustainable or ethical clothing lines?
I personally love EDUN, which offers a beautiful sustainable collection based on simplicity but uniqueness, Killer, where I’ve seen many pieces that fit my style, and of course Stella, who stars for her vegan bags among other things. However, if you are looking for something a bit more affordable, there’s plenty of options too. Some I like are the H&M Conscious line from H&M, which uses materials such as hemp, organic linen and organic leather. ASOS Eco, from ASOS, I personally like because they make buying ethically conscious brands so easy as well as ASOS Africa that promotes growth and empowerment in Africa and encouragement for artisans and producers across the continent, which I think it is extremely important as there is a lot of unrecognized talent because of the lack of opportunities.
Last but not least, for cute sustainable jewelry you can check out Made from the UK who previously collaborated with fashion industry big shots including Louis Vuitton, Tommy Hilfiger, Edun, ASOS, Topshop and more. I love the fact that they employ over 60 men and women in a workshop in Kenya.
What are some of your favorite organic beauty products?
Everyone's skin is different and of course what works for me could not work for others, but that’s exactly why I encourage everyone to listen to recommendations about organic products and by trying them out until you find what works best for you. There are lots of great organic brands (plus they are usually pretty affordable!) that could work for you. I also highly recommend to try out homemade masks made of natural simple products, as they usually work great when you find your combination (hair masks as well, you’d be surprised). Coconut oil or olive oil are both super ingredients for this. I also love using organic rosehip oils for daily moisturizing.
On a day off, you’re heading to your favorite coffee shop. What are you wearing?
Probably ripped jeans, some of my favorite sneakers or a pair of Chelsea boots, and a big cozy sweater. If not, workout clothes! I could live in those). (Amen Blanca!)
Tell me about something you’re doing simultaneously with modeling that motivates you. Another job? A project? Volunteering? A hobby?
I am currently studying Advertising and Public Relations online (step by step, it is going to take longer as it would normally take as it is combine with my job). It excites me, I chose it because I find it interesting how the human brain works. Things like, how you can persuade it or use it to persuade others, or the resistance that we put against it as a response. I have always been attracted by why we do the things we do, by the pressure of society reflected on our actions, by feelings and emotions and ways of living in different parts of the world.
I am an emotional person and the world fascinates me. I love how young I am to explore it all. So I enjoy reading about achieving positivity mindset, about having the right attitudes in life, about how we grow up with the wrong thoughts in our brains and that can sometimes take the magic of life away from us. The truth is, you are able to do anything you want but you have to pursue it and fight it instead of accepting mediocrity. That is why I always love being active and whenever things with work are quiet I get nervous, because we are here to live!
This summer I decided to do my first volunteer program and I went to one of my favorites places on earth: Costa Rica. For some reason I knew that it would be the right destination, I knew that it would be fresh air, freeing my whole mind and giving me new visions. I was in a small school helping out kids who were in need of attention, love and some extra help with their studies. The program only lasted two weeks (it is hard to combine extra activities with modeling as everything always confirms very last minute) and I felt the differences in terms of culture and of course had to adapt with living with the locals, something very different from what I am used to however that was all part of the greatness of my experience. My eyes opened a lot more, my heart opened a lot more, and it was reasonably prices so that is another thing I encourage you all to do (only when you feel the moment is right for you, of course). I hope I can do more of this whenever I have few weeks free.
Another big hobby is exercise, as I consider myself an active person. I like to go to the gym during the week and design my own routines, as well as trying out some different classes in the city. I would love to try dance next.
Last but not least, I have been enjoying is learning about nutrition lately. It is funny because I used to be that girl that would never try a vegetable and it was hard for me to eat fruits too. (When I say never I mean NEVER!) My boyfriend encouraged me to try my first salad in Milano (I will never forget it, it was hilarious) and because my job also demands taking care of myself and eating properly, it was the right moment to make a big effort and start to eat better. It has been an amazing journey even since then and I continue researching about food and discovering new things. I also started to cook at home, which I enjoy a lot. I started to be in absolute charge of my nutrition by being very aware of how important it is how you nourish yourself. I have ALWAYS loved to eat, but now I love it in a different way, a lot healthier and a lot more interesting, because now I have in my hands endless possibilities to play with! Encourage all of you too to try new meals, new recipes, new restaurants!! It's important to recognize the fuel you are putting into your body.
In addition to modeling, what else may you be doing in your future, say 5 years from now?
I hope I have grown as a model, and from there maybe build up a company I dream about... maybe start new projects to help others... maybe start an organization, or simply quit modeling and doing something related to advertising… Honestly who knows… All of those things motivate me but who would have thought I would be modelling and living in NYC today? If I knew this 5 years ago, I would call everyone crazy. Life is a big surprise and I say let’s move by our instincts to follow our dreams, whatever they are, putting the work in, and let’s see what happens. With that, usually good things will happen.
